About Malta Blockchain Association

From the Statute Blockchain Malta Association, the association’s objects and purposes are defined as:(a)to promote social and community advancement in Malta through research on and development of the digital economy which includes in particular digital identities, digital identifiers, cryptography, digital and electronic signatures, blockchain, smart contracts, digital currencies, virtual currencies, crypto currencies, electronic money, and any correlated, deriving or associated services, products, law, regulation or technology in Malta and the advancement of Malta as a international hub for digital economy;(b) to co-operate with, support, consult and make representations to (i) the Government of Malta and any Governmental organisations, ministries, departments, institutes, public agencies or otherwise, (ii) Finance Malta and (iii) any task force, steering committee, council or otherwise, whether on its own or with the private sector, which may be mandated or established to develop, promote and implement a national strategy for the development and use of the blockchain and related technologies in Malta;(c) to actively research, discuss and circulate information on legal, economic, policy and technology developments taking place on the local and international arena and within the European Union with respect to digital economy;(d) to promote with international and regional organisations or associations and other national government and non-government bodies, policies, technologies, legislative and regulatory changes related to digital economy and to consider together with these entities proposals for a digital economy having the same aim which are in the best interest of the community in general;(e) to afford opportunities for the discussion and consideration of matters of interest to members of the Association and to undertake or assist in the preparation of policies, positions, roadmaps, strategies or papers in respect of such matters; (f) for the advancement of education, to collect and circulate statistical and other information of interest to the members of the Association and to form a collection of publications and documents accessible to the members of the Association;and (g) to create as might be required, within the same Association, sub groups, focus groups or different sections to deal with the different facets and sectors in the digital economy.
